About Hotel Gulden Vlies
Situated in a delightful Art-Deco building on the outskirts of Brugge, Gulden Vlies is a family run B&B for guests looking for a quieter Brugge experience.
The rooms have been thoroughly modernised, but still retain some period features. Each features private bathroom, TV and telephone.
There is ample public parking in the area, or guests could use a parking garage. There is free Wi-Fi available throughout.
A light continental breakfast of cold meats, cheeses and pastries is available every morning in the lovely breakfast room. The hosts will be happy to offer the inside scoop on the Brugge dining scene. Bierbrasserie Cambrinus comes highly recommended for both its beer and food.
The centre of Brugge is only 15 minutes away on foot. Guests shouldn’t miss taking in the Market Square. It is the social hart of the city and has some terrific Gothic Revival buildings.
Positive Reviews
positive:
Excellent breakfast
A surprising number of guests were very impressed indeed with the breakfast offered every morning. While being a fairly standard continental version, guests felt there was more than enough food, and the preparation and display were both very pleasing.
positive:
The best dining recommendations from the hosts
While the hosts were praised in general, for their friendliness and professionalism, it was their dining recommendations that really seemed to impress. A large number of guests speak of taking their recommendations and being most impressed with the meal and atmosphere they encountered.
positive:
Good decor in character filled building
Guests really seemed to like the Art Deco building and the modern revamp to the rooms. Again and again guests commented that the building had “character”. Some seemed to feel they were stepping back into the 1920's, but with all the modern conveniences also stepping back with them.
Negative Reviews
negative:
Rooms a little noisy
While there weren't really many complaints about noise from without, it was said that noise from the hallways and adjacent rooms could on occasion disturb at night.
negative:
Some rooms a tad small
It seems that one or two of the rooms offered are really quite small. Some guests allocated to them could be a little unhappy, since they felt a bit cramped with two people occupying the room. Guests who really like their space should carefully note the room descriptions before booking.
negative:
Lots of stairs
Of course many Flemish houses have steep stairs, and this one is no exception. Some guests occupying the attic rooms all the way at the top seemed to get a bit weary climbing the stairs over the course of a stay.
