About Guesthouse Pickery
Situated in an elegant building erected in the 1920’s, Guesthouse Pickery offers guests boutique-style accommodation in a design conscious environment on the outskirts of central Bruges.
The rooms are elegant, and have been individually designed by JW Waterhouse and Munch. Each features en-suite bathroom, minibar and tea/coffee station.
There is on-site bicycle rental for those who want to explore the wider surroundings, and free Wi-Fi is available throughout the property.
A basic continental breakfast of drinks, pastries and cold meats is served in guest’s rooms. Other meals can be enjoyed at any of Bruges many restaurants. The hosts will be happy to offer their personal recommendations.
The centre of Bruges, with its lovely canal scenes and neo-Gothic Holly Blood Basilica is just a mile from Guesthouse Pickery. The train station is approximately 1.5 miles away.
Positive Reviews
positive:
Good quiet location
Surprisingly perhaps, guests really seemed to like the location of the guest house. It was described as about 15 minutes' walk from the dense and tourist inundated centre. Guests appreciated being a bit out of the centre, firstly because parking their cars right out front was usually easy, and secondly it was a much quieter location than the very centre of Bruges.
positive:
Elegant and calming decor
On the whole, guests seemed to approve of the decor of the rooms. While there was nothing particularly dramatic about them that guests described, that was perhaps the point. They seemed to find them elegant and understated, resulting in an overall calming effect.
positive:
Very friendly and helpful hosts and staff
Guests couldn't speak more highly of the hosts, who were invariably described as welcoming, friendly and a wealth of information on all the sights and inside information on Bruges.
Negative Reviews
negative:
Weak water pressure
A couple of guests mentioned that the water pressure in their rooms left a lot to be desired. It made showering a bit of an underwhelming experience.
negative:
Breakfast served in-room
While there were also plenty of guests who quite liked the breakfast, some didn't like the way it was delivered. Most of the items seem to be deposited in the fridge the night before and guests prepare it themselves in the morning. To some this was convenient and delightful, to others cold and impersonal.
negative:
Rooms not well soundproofed
Like perhaps most small establishments, the walls at Pickery are described as “paper this”, resulting in guests being able to hear too many of the goings-on in the adjacent rooms.
