Positive Reviews
positive:
Staff genuinely friendly
The staff appear to not only be friendly, but happy, polite and welcoming too. It seems like it is not just for show, but they are authentic. A very large majority of guests comment upon this and negative reviews of the staff are extremely rare.
positive:
A real cottage feeling
There is no doubting it - the Country Cottage Hotel has its own distinct style and character. Some guests like its homely feel and feel that the name of the hotel couldn't be more appropriate. The gardens and courtyard are especially viewed as being exceptional - especially to sit out in the summer.
positive:
Homely rooms
Most guests find the rooms warm and cosy with comfortable beds. There are obviously some exceptions, but on the whole guests like the quiet country feel, especially when it is combined with a view over the gardens.

Like staying at your grandmas cottage?
The hotel has its own very distinct style and it is definitely not everyone's cup of tea. Do the wallpaper and furnishings give it a traditional feel or an old-fashioned out of date ambiance? Is it quaint and charming or dated and tired? Does it transport you back to another era or is it just a residence for old people? For some it reminds them of staying at their grandmas house, however, that may be actually quite a nice thing for others.
negative:
Bathroom problems
Some guests find the bathrooms, maybe like your grannies, on the small side. There are also problems with water pressure and with the availability of hot water.
negative:
Group disruptions
The hotel is an ideal venue for weddings and functions. That's great if you are part of the group. If not, it may well impact negatively on your stay. Noise emanating from the courtyard or the function rooms is not helped either by single glazed windows in the rooms, even if the hotel makes the effort to place you as far away as possible.
