Positive Reviews
positive:
Very convenient for Termini Station
While there were some issues (regarding safety) about the immediate area, there was no denying that the location, just a couple of minutes walk from Termini Station, was enormously convenient. It meant that arriving guests didn't have an expensive taxi ride, or complicated metro, to deal with to get to their hotel.
positive:
Welcoming and friendly staff
While there were some contrary opinions expressed, the overwhelming number of guests thought a great deal of the staff at Hotel Montreal. They were said to be very welcoming, and always willing to help their guests out with their query or issue.
positive:
Very good value
While many guests conceded that the hotel was not perfect, they went on to say that the room-rates were very decent, so those small concerns really fell by the wayside. They felt they received very good value.
Negative Reviews
negative:
Exceptionally loud environment
Several guests mentioned that they paid for the central location by having to endure a lot of street noise at night. The major issue seemed to be cars zooming by, rather than revellers and such.
negative:
Very poor breakfast
It was very hard indeed trying to find anything good written about the breakfast. Almost all guests mentioning it say that it was exceptionally sparse, and not really worth the effort. It would be best to have breakfast at one of the many great cafes in central Rome.
negative:
Area a bit dodgy
Like the main railway stations in nearly all major European cities, the immediate surroundings can be a bit intimidating to some. While no incidents were reported, several guests said they felt uncomfortable walking around the area, especially late at night.
