Situated right on the Bund, Shanghai’s iconic waterfront boulevard, Les Suites Orient Bund is a mid-rise hotel offering modern and exquisitely designed accommodation overlooking the city’s impressive skyline. Aside from spectacular views, the rooms also feature nearly every amenity imaginable, including refrigerators, soundproof windows and flat screen TV's with satellite channels. Some also have in-suite hot tubs and access to club lounges. Reception staff are available around the clock and can assist with basic concierge and business services. There's also a business centre, cosy library and fitness centre for those keeping in shape on the road. Café Dongxi is the in-house restaurant, and offers a great variety of Chinese and Western dishes. Full English Afternoon Tea service is a speciality and should not be missed. The main attraction for tourists is undoubtedly the broad riverfront promenade right out front, from where fantastic views of the skyscrapers on the opposite bank are to be had. Business people may be more interested in the business district and the World Financial Centre, which is just two miles from Les Suites Orient Bund.
Guests really couldn't have been ay happier with the location of the hotel. They seemed to like it for two reasons. Firstly, the central location on the Bund meant that they had only to step out of the front door and virtually be right on the promenade, where they could walk and enjoy the amenities. Secondly, the location afforded good views, from almost every room, of Shanghai's very impressive skyline.
Guests were very satisfied with their rooms indeed, saying that they were exceptionally well designed and equipped, and so comfortable that they created a temporary oasis for them in what is one of China's most frantic cities.
For the most part, guests were quite impressed with the hotel's staff, saying they provided good service. Many English speakers, and others using it as a common language, reported that the staff could communicate well in English.
A fair number of guests pointed out that there was no subway station nearby, so getting around by public transport was a little difficult.
The hotel design makes use of evocative and somewhat dim lighting, which some guests did not really appreciate, especially when it came to their rooms.
Quite a number of guests did not really think much of the breakfast, with the general feeling being that it did not live up to the “five star” status that was evident elsewhere in the hotel.
