Positive Reviews
positive:
Good location for sightseeing
Although the immediate area is also described as a little dodgy, most guests love that they are so close to all the sights they came to see in Rome. Budget travellers also like that they can walk from Termini Station in around 10 minutes -so no exorbitant taxi fares.
positive:
Good value for money
Although this was a somewhat contentious point, most travellers do concede that the hotel honestly described itself as “budget”, and that at this sort of central Rome location budget rooms are typically very hard to find. With that in mind, most were quite satisfied with the value they received.
positive:
Refreshingly large rooms
Guests were pleasantly surprised by the size of the rooms, considering them bigger than they experienced in other similar circumstances.
Negative Reviews
negative:
Extremely poor Wi-Fi
While hotel Wi-Fi is seldom great, the majority of guests say it is exceptionally bad at Hotel D'Este. When actually working, the signal is extremely weak, especially the further you move away from the reception.
negative:
Rooms quite run-down
There are a few alarming comments about the state of the rooms, with some mentioning things like bathroom sinks coming off the wall. Most comments are not as extreme, but there is a general feeling that the rooms are in quite a poor state, and have long passed their due date for a major update.
negative:
Unprofessional and unhelpful staff
Although definitely mixed in with positive comments as well, many guests speak about being disrespected and hustled by unfriendly and unprofessional staff members. This includes things like complaints being ignored or laughed-off, and being put in rooms of a lower grade than booked and refused any refund.
