Hotel Champagne Lodge and Luxury Suites (Darien, USA)

If you're in need of a little break away with your significant other, this place should probably work. Most found the accommodations decent enough with some romantic touches throughout and a free continental breakfast offering all the standard items. Don't expect the highest end of luxury, though.

The rooms are impressive overall with large beds, modern decor and good lighting. The whirlpool tubs, steam showers, fireplaces and complimentary bottles of champagne (with certain bookings) are all favorites. Plenty of privacy in most rooms as there are no windows - but this also makes for very dark spaces when lights are off.

Speedy check-in/out can be expected. Most staff are adequate, helpful and efficient, although they may not always exude the most enthusiasm. Don't expect many extras.

While most pool suites are enjoyable, some may find they aren't optimally clean and are slightly smaller than expected.

"Annual membership fees" are often charged at check-in regardless of whether you'll ever return - and if you do return within the year, you may very well be charged the same fee again.

You may get the feeling you're at an upscale Motel 6 here. While most areas are clean, some are definitely not and the whole property could use a good sprucing. Paint is peeling, pillows and mattresses are worn, linens are low quality, wires are exposed, fireplaces may or may not work and you can easily hear music being played and traffic passing outside your room.
