A slice of Europe in SoCal
Chic, elegant, modern or minimalist - these are some of the adjectives guests used to describe the impressive design of this hotel. While the rooms here are on the smaller side, many found that this - along with the clean décor, floor-to-ceiling showers and clever in-room storage - only added to the pleasantly European feel of the property.
positive:
Attentive staff
The reception team go out of their way to ask after guests, offering fresh fruit and water not just upon check-in, but each time visitors enter or exit the lobby. For many, this level of personal attention really had a positive impact on their stay.
positive:
Good connections to Chula Vista and beyond
This hotel is well-situated for local shopping and downtown Chula Vista. For those who would prefer to take public transport, it is served by local bus and trolley routes. Visitors hoping to go further afield will be pleased to note that the hotel is also located just off of the freeway.
Negative Reviews
negative:
Limited parking
While the free parking offered by the hotel is a plus, some guests had problems procuring a spot. For those unlucky ones, the only other option seemed to be off-street parking a distance away from the hotel.
negative:
Questionable neighborhood
There's no question that this hotel has that upscale atmosphere, but that lux feel didn't necessarily extend to the surrounding area. Many noted that this hotel is located adjacent to public housing and for some, the neighborhood had a questionable appearance.
negative:
Design quirks
This hotel is all about design, but some features were just too quirky for comfort. The glass bathroom doors left many feeling exposed while some found the towel rack above the toilet to be rather unhygienic. For others - especially those in rooms facing the road - thin walls were a problem.
