No 6 Stoney Lane is a holiday home situated on possibly one of the most 'picturesque' streets in Essex. It's a beautiful property dating back from the 16th century. The cottage sleeps 5 people, with 3 bedrooms, 1 bathroom, living room, dining room, a fully equipped kitchen, courtyard with barbecue facilities and free WiFi. When you book your stay at the No 6 Stoney Lane, you rent the whole cottage, even if you only have 2 people occupying the holiday home. Stoney Lane is a cute little 14th century cobbled lane rising steeply towards the magnificent church. Fronting the street are three medieval cottages, forming a delightfully picturesque sight. One of these medieval cottages was Dick Turpin's where he lived as a butcher before he started his life of crime! It is said he hid in the cellar whilst on the run from the Gregory hand and the law for horse rustling. The famous classical musician Gustav Holst lived across the road from Stoney Lane and performed concerts in the church which are still celebrated today with the yearly music festival. Stoney Lane is also ideally situated for the Morris dance which was founded in 1911 and has been celebrated every year for over a century.
